SIDEWALK SIGNATURES
Harry T. Brown

Long Beach’s sidewalks contain impressed “signatures” of many construction companies and contractors who plied their trade in the city. If your ancestor owned or worked for one of those companies, our “Sidewalk Signatures” series will be of interest to you.

RESEARCH TIP: When you search for ancestors in the “householders” section of a city directory, don’t forget to look in the business listings for information about their place of employment, too. There may be a picture or engraving of the building where they worked.
